Worship Night in Dyersville, IA - Recap.

WHAT. A. NIGHT.

On Saturday, July 29th, Gathering at The Well hosted a worship night at Westside Park in Dyersville alongside the ELIM Arrival worship team. It started with nothing more than an intense desire to gather our community in worship and prayer; God used it to move a heart of repentance in the men and women gathered that evening. Within three weeks of planning, everything fell into place.

FRIDAY NIGHT

As a team, we gathered to pray both in person and online. At the park, we could see dark clouds rolling in from the west, and a slight breeze began to stir. As we sat in our cars with the ELIM Arrival team on speaker, we closed our eyes and began to pray for God to move in our town. As we covered the worship night in prayer, we saw lightning glittering in the distance. As our prayers intensified, so did the weather. At one point, a police officer knocked on our car window and told us we had to evacuate the park. With the incoming storm, it was not safe to stay. As we looked into the distance, we could see that the storm broke through. The lightning, thunder, and wind intensified since we first arrived. As the storm sirens blasted through the chilled summer sky, it was like God was putting on a show and claiming back territory for Him to work the next day.

SATURDAY EVENING

There were so many special moments that happened during the worship event. GATW vice chair, Amy Elisabeth, gave a powerful message about why Gathering at The Well started. She encouraged people to anchor themselves with Jesus and to chase after Him with their whole hearts. Seeing God’s people come together and pray on behalf of a city was powerful. There were moments of repentance when everyone kneeled, crying out to God for forgiveness. There were moments of joy when people went to the altar to stand before Jesus. There were moments of commissioning when people laid hands on our team of women to pray for God’s anointing and provision in leading this ministry forward. It was beautifully overwhelming for those who have prayed for Dyersville for years. It felt like God was unfolding prayers right before our eyes.

THE TESTIMONIES

As days continue since gathering, the number of testimonies that roll in is incredible. Someone drove across the state to gather with us. Another joined us after being recently released from prison weeks prior. Another family received prayer for their kids to return to Jesus, and another family rejoiced as a sister rededicated her life to Jesus. As a team, we felt encouraged and charged to continue being passionate about sharing Jesus with people in our community. When we keep our eyes locked on Him, nothing is impossible!

Lord, you get all the Glory!
